Today we discussed how to improve your writing and considered what makes an exciting story. You are working towards producing a piece of extended creative writing and we are starting to trial some techniques which will help you improve.
Jayden B and Sebastian shared some particularly helpful thoughts about why self reflection and learning from one’s mistakes can help us improve in life.
You used this concept of ‘self-reflection’ to look back over your work and come up with three personal writing targets, which link to your work and to your knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements. These will be your success criteria for the stories that you will write this week.
Remember that knowing your own weaknesses is in fact a great strength; knowing how to work on these weaknesses is even better!

It’s not a test, it is about you trying to work on improving your writing. All authors do that. That is why I wanted you to set your own targets – it is about you reflecting and working on what you think is important. You have some fantastic creative ideas, so don’t you worry!!
