Today we had fun considering what made an hero. You came up with some fantastic heroic qualities and I was moved by the amount of you who stated that your parents were your heroes. I was also impressed with the range of vocabulary you used when describing heroes and the ‘Beowulf’ story so far – from ‘inspirational’ to ‘vicious’.

We made a good start reading ‘Beowulf’ thanks to some lovely reading around the class. Launching into the kingdom of Hereot, we encountered gentle Hrothgar and the ‘barbaric’ (good word Enes!) Grendel.

I left you at the end of the lesson with the task of thinking about how we knew Beowulf was our hero. I look forward to picking up where we left off in our next lesson.

Great work Year 7! Plus more names on the tick list, hooray!
